Osiris is an Egyptian god that came into contact with several Merryweather Security contractors who were exposed to traces of Element X.
Biography
Early Life
Osiris was born as the great-grandson of Ra, later becoming the Egyptian God of the Dead. He became aware of his great-grandfather's scepter and desired to one day obtain it to assume control of both life and death.[1]
Shattered God
Between 2660–2066 BCE in Ancient Egypt, Osiris was assassinated by his brother Set, who sealed his remains in a box and dumped it in the Nile. By the time Osiris' wife Isis found the box, his physical form had crystallized and shattered due to being contaminated by the material used to seal the box. Isis secured a fragment of Osiris' shattered form, though the rest of it was washed away by the Nile and eventually deposited into the Mediterranean Sea.
Despite his physical demise, Osiris' soul had survived and ensured the remaining pieces of his shattered body remained close together and above the surface of the water as they progressively worked their way out of the Mediterranean Sea and into the Atlantic Ocean. After years of aimlessly drifting, Osiris' remains washed up on the shores of what would one day become the United States east coast.[1]
Contacting Merryweather
Following Merryweather Security's discovery and experimentation with Element X in August 2017, several of its contractors, including Edward Willard, O'Ryan Bennett and Chris Bennett, began hearing Osiris as a result of their exposure to the element. Osiris demanded Merryweather to locate an ancient artifact buried somewhere in rural California for him, which Willard agreed to do under the condition that Osiris bestow them with unspeakable power. Osiris accepted Willard's proposal, and gave them information on how to weaponize Element X into a chemical weapon dubbed Chemical X to help them with their mission.[2]
